Question:
what can be causing this because it is easier to start when it is warm or has been running for a while?I am not sure if it would be the ignition or the starter but I cannot afford to go ripping stuff off my van. Can anyone can help?

I have a Chevy 350, 400, and 454, which one would be the best to rebuild?

It sounds like your starter is going bad. If you have a AUTO ZONE....ADVANCE AUTO STORE....PEP BOYS.. They can check it for free.

for the auto mechanics out there??

sounds to me like it needs a good tune up and a new fuel filter and while you are at it put in a bottle of lucas fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank.
