My son has a HQ Monaro with a 450 Holley. Will idle for a minute at high revs, then dies.?

Carby has new kit. Mechanic can't get it going. Fuel pump seems to be working as fuel is getting through. Any ideas?

there is a air leak some wear make sure all the vacuum lines are on or the floats are sticking shut. or to low. also the power valve might be stuck also this happens when you rebuild any carb. parts of the carb get dirt in the hose and plug up things a fast fix is to start it and then put your hand over the opening to suck out the dirt do this two times and restart it each time or use the choke to close the carb off from air. this creates and high vacuum. if non work than the carb will have to be pulled apart and make sure everything is in place and working like the floats and all passageways.
before starting it adjust the air mixture screws in all the way and back them out 2 turns. and see if that helps. after its running and stays running then go to the botom link to tune it and for more info
