Why wont my sons Go-kart stay running?

Question:
Purchased a Go-Kart in very good used condition.Seemed fine when purchased but sat for 4 months before Christmas. Gas was treated with stuff so it would store better while sitting, but now when started it starts, 3 seconds later it stalls.

you could still have gum in the carb. you may not have run it when you put in the "stuff". thus, the gas in the carb was never treated. gum gum gum. you may have a bad ignition or spark plug. but truly sounds like gas is NOT getting to the engine. may have to rebuild carb (is simple) and check for a stuck float or needle valve in the carb. clean housing with carb leaner, and change the gas. a little alcohol in the tank couldn't hurt either in case you have water in the gas.

its never good to leave any motor just sitting try changing the gas and if that doesnt work then your going to have to start changing certain stuff step by step

Clean the air filter, change the fuel, change the fuel filter, change the spark plug, adjust the mixture. Try it in this order and if you don't have success seek an expert.
