please take it to the mechanic to solve that problem for you because he would know just what to do.It's probable that your break lining has worn out. If it just started making the noise break lining get the lining replaced. If you've ignored the sound for a while then you probably have scored the rotors already and will need to replace them as well.

If it's just a squeak, it's the wear indicator on the pads telling you it's time for a change. If it's a grinding metallic noise, you are looking at a very expensive brake job, with possibly new rotors being installed.Pador? Do you mean 'brake pedal'? If you have a noise (high pitch squeal, grinding, etc) then by all means have this noise checked out. Not being able to stop a 4,000 pound car is a major problem.

sounds like the brake pads have worn out, take it to a garage and get them checked before the noise changes to tell you youve wrecked the disks as well and that will cost you a heck of a lot more

break pads wear over time, they have like a block of material supported on a metal plate that gradually wears away as the pads clamp onto the brake disk causing the breaking action when you press the break pedal, most likely what has happened is that the pad has worn so far down that you have the metal backing plate rubbing on the metal brake disc, this can be a grinding sound but can be a god awful squeal (you feel like a car murderer when that happens).best advice is to get them changed the pads are about £14-25....and are a bog standard job for a garage...if the metal on the pad has scored the disc also they may need replacing.....when you break, the motion of the car tranfers to heat energy, from the pads to the disc, so disc have to have a certain thickness(you may have seen rally cars with red hot discs) to absorb heat and stop you overheating your discs...so the discs may need replacing also...at a guess you may be looking at £100-150 to sort it...but as its safety critical, and an MOT requirement ..ect ect ect.....
