Answers:
My front nearside wing is loose, will my car pass the MOT?
Your car uses the PASSKEY system. Your ignition key should have a small black pellet embedded in it. If the pellet is really worn down it won't make good contact with the contacts in the ignition switch and the security system won't allow the car to start. You said you can start the car later which sounds like a worn key. There are bypass kits made you can buy here:Exhaust problems on a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport?

where do some people get these answers?
You usually have to go to a GM dealer to get these keys made too as there are many different pellets used for the keys. Expect to spend about $40 for a key.
lexus lx470 transmission problem?
there is an easy way to bypass the secureity system on the early gms like that for very little money first you need to measure the resistance of the little black pellet in your key to do this use an ohm meter from one side of the pellet to the other record the resistance value and go to a radio shack or similar store and buy a resister of that value then you need to remove the pannel covering the bottom of the dash on the driver side (above the gas and brake peddels ) there you will find two very thin wires usually in an orange sheath that run from the key switch to the junction below these wires need to be cut strip the insulation back on the end that comes from the junction block side (NOT THE END GOING TWARD THE KEY) then solder the resister between the two wires and tape them up good ...your car will no longer have a security system and no longer need a $40 key a key without the black pellet will work now they are much cheaperMore Questions & Answers ...
