Question:
Hey Guys,
What is the best remedy for a falling headliner? Is it better to remove it completely and re-glue it, or buy new material and start from scratch. What type of fabric works best? Our 2 vehicles need it repaired.
Thanks, George

I purchased a 99 expedition 2 days ago, and it wont start, can i take it back??
o-k, I have been in auto body repair business for 20 years, and I have seen this alot!I have seen soooo many people try to re glue them and no matter what it doesn't work.
You see the biggest reason they come down is not the fact that the glue gets bad.Its because the foam or cardboard backing that it glues to gets dried out and starts to disintegrate, thus making the liner fall.If you try to re glue it it wont stick to this bad backing no matter what you try.Besides you will never get it taunt enough and it will have wrinkles and look like crap.
The only way to fix it right is to pull the old liner and backing down and take them to an auto interior shop and have them redo the backing and liner fabric together. Then you can have it re installed.
They can be a real pain to get down because you have to undo so many interior trim pieces and they can break fairly easy.
I suggest you take the whole car to someone and let them do the whole job.
Good luck!
How can you tell the difference between synthetic motor oil and traditional petroleum-based oil?
You can either re-glue the old one back up, or replace it by gluing a new one up. You can also buy some repair pins at some parts stores. Walmart also sells them. Usually the twist in and hold it up for a quick temporary fix, or, if you use them right, an alternative to re gluing. If you decide to replace it, then try fabric stores. There are materials specifically designed for headlinersDepends on how fussy you are. If you just want it up out of the way, get some 3M contact adhesive a poke a small hole in the liner, if necessary and spray to cove the area and following the directions on the can press in place. If you wan a really good job have a professional do this.
My 97 dodge avenger's composite headlites are starting to yellow, is there anyway to clear them up?
Pull it down. If it's sagging chances are the car isn't worth the hassle to fix it.More Questions & Answers ...
