Question:
I have a 1992 Volvo 940GL with 225K miles that has started randomly stalling out while driving at highway speeds. So far there is no correlation to gas level in the tank or weather, it does it on sunny days as well as rainy, and with full tank. Fuel pump, plugs, wires, distributor are all new and have had no effect. It immediately starts again when the key is turned off and then restarted. Sometimes it does this several times per day, sometimes it won't do this for several days or even weeks. This is very frustrating and every time I bring it to a garage it is running fine and they can find nothing wrong. Anyone have any ideas ??
Answers:
It is not a problem with an O2 sensor, that will not cause your vehicle to stall, O2 sensors are for emissions, it can cause your vehicle to use more gas and in some cases idle a little rough!
I once had a 1991 Dodge Caravan that was constantly stalling out every time I would stop at a red light or slow down the car. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was a bad oxygen sensor. I had it replaced and the car worked fine.
I have an electrical problem on my four-wheeler, need help.?
I have a love / hate relationship with Volvos. My one suggestion is to buy AAA. I almost got kicked off AAA when I had my Volvo, from being towed constantly. Unfortunately no mattter what the problem is, working on Volvos will cost $200 minimum for anything. They are very safe though, and saved mine and my Grandparents life about 20 years ago.More Questions & Answers ...
