Question:
A shop told me the seal to my radiator was comprimised, which explains why it's leaking anti-freeze.
Two questions:
Does this require a brand new radiator to be installed?
If so, what's a estimated cost on a new radiator plus labor?
1999 Toyota Camry's engine shaking?
I drive a 03 nissan altima.
1998 cavalier rear brakes locking up when wet shoes & drums are in good shape?
Thanks,
Answers:
nobody repairs radiators these days so you will most likely end up with a new one. a good aftermarket replacement is $150 to $300 labor about 1 to 2 hrs plus new coolent. say $400
MY car won't start! whats wrong?
what shop talks like this "comprimised seal"? that could mean something as simple as a new raditor cap (that's the "SEAL").... if it's leaking at the neck (around the base of the fill openning) it may be able to be brased ...this is not expensive... recoring is expensive...is there any mechanics who can tell me what car they would pick for themselfs , 2002 or newer?
I fought this type of problem with this radiator that is metal with a plastic top. don't spend money trying to fix this radiator. go on ebay and you can get one for about $100. believe me after taking my radiator off 3 types and spending $80 I ended up just buying a new one anyway!if its leaking, can you have it soldered or welded?
I would try to have it fixed it would be a lot cheaper than a new one,a good radiator shop can most likely solder it...
