Question:
What pitfalls await an inexperienced fool who lacks the money to take his truck to the garage and thinks he might try to change his own water pump. The guys at Checker say it should be easy but I am a little nervous. Easy to those with experience could end up getting me in lots of trouble....fast. I have the Heaton manual but I think they must have left a lot of information out of that as well. Any suggestions? Is this really a project for a rookie, as they say, or am I asking for disaster? What are the hidden minefields?

http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/show...Pretty good info there. Be sure to remove all of the old gasket material that may be left on the engine where the old pump was- pretty time consuming
what u need to do is remember how u take it apart step by step the reverse it for the install also remember to follow torq specs given a bolt to loose will leak and to tight may crack the waterpump or stripe the bolt then ur in trouble also make shur u use the proper gaskets and bolts in the right places a bolt to long may dammage the engine if u try to force it to fit mainly be carefull and remember this if it dont go easy its not ment to go dont use ur bronze use ur brain and good luck
where is located the I.A.T senson, in ford mondeo?
yes you can do it no problem. the studs in the water pump shaft is the toughest problem bcause they are sometimes hard to break lose. take pictures as you go if you are too nervous. then you can remember where everything goes back. but no it's not hard at all. don't worryMore Questions & Answers ...
