Aaargh, help! The starter motor on my 1993 1.8 petrol Mondeo has just gone, right before Christmas, just when I'm going to need it most to get around the country to see family etc. How much is it likely to cost me to get this repaired or replaced in a garage (including parts and labour)? Anyone have any idea? I'm going to try and get it into the garage tomorrow before I set off on Sunday, but I'm really worried about affording it.......

With a rebuilt.... like $100 or so.The last time I had to buy a starter motor was over 20 yrs ago, it wasn't new, it was re-conditioned and it cost me £25, and one of my son's fitted it for me. I dread to think what one will cost now. I reckon, a small fortune

go to a scrap yard.£20 at the most,if you ask nicely they might fit it there and then for a few quid.

yes go to a scrap yard you will get one for about 10/20pounds someone there will fit it for you and may not charge you good luck and a merry Christmas.My mate had a tigra and the starter motor was knackered he paid about £120 something like that That was inclusive of parts etc I think

The cheapest was is to have a reconditioned one fitted , buy it yourself then ask a garage to fit it say its left over from a previos car of the same model or they may be peived about not making a bomb on the starter . It should cost about £60 labour depending were you go the bigger the garage the larger the price . Good luckAnd have a good one
