Ask a mechanic a question?

Question:
We have a 1988 Ford Taurus, and my husband changed the water pump and the car won't keep the fluid in it now and there is no leak because he has checked every where and we can't figure it out and there is no heat either! What do we do to resolve this problem? A very detailed explanation would be appreciated! Nothing we do seems to work! If any body has any suggestions or clues, please let me know ASAP!!

Answers:

At which point does fuel freeze?

Heater core. Feel the carpet on the passenger side of the vehicle. That's probably where all your fluid is going. Not sure where the heater core is in the Taurus but it's normally buried deep in the dash. This is based on the assumption that you are not getting white smoke, and if you were, you would have mentioned it.

96 Ford Explorer heater doesnt blow out front panel or defrost but does from the centre console to back seat?

Check the oil to make sure it not grey and foamy. If it is that's where the collant is going. You've blown a head gasket.

"1993 Allante"?

Have you checked with the engine running? Is the temp. gage coming up? what about the exhaust? is it white? if so you are loosing water out the pipe. If all OK must be on the carpet as mentioned already.
