can you convert your ac compressor to a air compressor to fill a 8 gallon tank?
Depending on where you live the best and legal answer is to rebuild what you have in the car, many states have very tough emmisions laws, i am a state inspection mechanic in Pennsylvania as well as an Emmisions inspector according to our rules and regulations whatever came in the vehicle is what needs to be in the vehicle. And depending on testing in your area all the smog equipment needs to be there too, that is also part of the visual inspection.
I had a 1984 Caprice for years it was a great car!

How to create a singleton class (A class having only one instance) in C++ or Java Language?
500ci caddilac. it was the smallest in size for the big blocks, but it has the largest displacement. if you don't want somthing that big, a 454, 442, 305 woudl be your better bets. also you might just want to do an engine rebuild, and keep the original engine, but jsut add to it.it's all lgal so long as the engine is not out of a stolen car even then it's sometimes ok me I like the stolen vette chasis setup cheap easy to steal and makes for one hell of a streetcar! hope this helps
how many miles can i get on my car for every 1/32 of an inch of tire tread?
the 85 caprice came with a 305 and the best engine that ;you can drop is a 350 4 bolt main...that way you don't have to change the motor mounts and the exhaust... you can get new engine from the chevy dealership for 1700.00 in the crate...with a 3yr or 50k miles warranty.. all you have to do is bolt up the oil pan and put the valve covers on and put the intake of your desire with the carburator of choice... I suggest , intake that a 650 edlebrock carburator will sit one.. that has to have the intake ports for the carburator ... or you can drop a LT1 corvette engine... but the cost is around 2000.00 and is costly to repair...or you can go the 350 with the roller cam... it just depend on how much money you want to spend... If you got that much...ship it to me and I will rebuild it depending on how much money you have go to spend on it... call me 334-312-7646Best bet is to install a sbc 350 engine. It is a common engine, a supply of parts are endless, easy to work on. All the Big blocks that everyone mentions will consume a lot more fuel for one, harder to work on and more costly to repair in the long run. Installing it takes a bit more of elbow grease. As far as legal, i believe all you need to do is to install an emmision controlled engine built from 1985 or newer. It is not legal to install a non emission controlled engine into your car. In the long run, the SBC engine is your best bet, and they can still be modified enough to get you from point A to point B. i would shy away from the 305 engines. GM was notoriuos about having bad camshafts in those engines. Ever hear a 305 go down the street ticking badly? That was the camshaft wiped out. Changed many of those camshafts in my time.
good luck.............
