1999 Ford Contour problems?

Question:
We have a 1999 Ford Contour. It has 2 problems I need help with. 1)The warning chime does not work when the headlights are left on or when the key is in the ignition. 2) The interior light does not come on when you open the door. You can switch it to on and it works but when you put it on "door" so it lights when the door opens it doesn't work. I have checked all the fuses and can't find any blown. Please help. My 17 year old daughter drives this car and has already left the headlights on(running down the battery). I am also very concerned for her safety since the interior light does not come on at night when she enters the car.

The door switch is bad. I don't know if your car has a button on the door post or the switch is inside the door on the outside door handle.
I have a Ford Ranger and the switch is inside the door panel on the outside handle. Failure of this switch is a common ford problem
