1998 ford taurus driver door wont open?

Question:
i locked my keys in the car and kind of pulled on the door to try to stick various items in there to get my keys, well wants i finally got thre keys the door wouldnt shut, it will close but it wont lock into place, i had to hold my car shut when i drove it home.whats wrong

your latch is in the closed position. just pull on the door handle and use a screwdriver to return the latch to tho open position. this is an easy procedure. if your not sure just look at the latch for a different door on the vehicle and compare the position of the latch. you won't be able to move it unless your pulling on the door handle. good luck
