I agree with goofy_dude67. DPFE sensors are VERY common failures for Ford products, VERY easily misdiagnosed as EGR valve failures. The proper way to diagnose this is to monitor the DPFE volt data at engine idle. It should be around 0.99 volts. If it's 4.99 volts, your DPFE sensor needs to be replaced. This part can only be purchased from the dealer. Ask the parts guy for the part by base part number 9J460. It should cost about $100.00. Replacement of the part should be self explanatory once you see the part.

There are nine different codes that have to do with the EGR system on your car. If indeed the EGR was at fault and not one of the sensors, you must reset the check engine light. To do this disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable for about one minute. If after running the engine the light comes back on, you haven't repaired the problem.
