79 Chevy suburban I'm going to buy a new tail gate from junk yard how do I hook a battery up to it to see?

I agree with goofy_dude67. DPFE sensors are VERY common failures for Ford products, VERY easily misdiagnosed as EGR valve failures. The proper way to diagnose this is to monitor the DPFE volt data at engine idle. It should be around 0.99 volts. If it's 4.99 volts, your DPFE sensor needs to be replaced. This part can only be purchased from the dealer. Ask the parts guy for the part by base part number 9J460. It should cost about $100.00. Replacement of the part should be self explanatory once you see the part.

How much does it cost to get a new starter?

try unhooking the battery for a few hours.

i want to change the coolant in my focus and can not find the plug to empty old coolant out any suggestion?

You need to reset the check engine light after the faulty part is replaced, or once the computer cycles a few hundred times it might go off.

does it matter what brand cold air intake you use. Or are all of them generally the same (horsepower, gas, etc)

If the code was a p0401 or p0402, you need to replace the DPFE sensor, then disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, or go have the code cleared...... what code was it?

when i start the car it's a clicking sound?

There are nine different codes that have to do with the EGR system on your car. If indeed the EGR was at fault and not one of the sensors, you must reset the check engine light. To do this disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable for about one minute. If after running the engine the light comes back on, you haven't repaired the problem.

The computer needs to reset itself. It will go off after a few times driving it on its own, but to manually reset, you have to unhook the battery for 20 minutes.

Ford Taurus with valve problems. What should I do?

Also some EGR valves do go bad, most get a carbon buildup in them from some other type of problem (such as the fuel mixture being to rich. When the fuel and oxygen combines in the combustion chamber of your engine, too much fuel causes a carbon buildup.) A competent mechanic should be able to adjust this for you by turning a simple screw. Get this checked out if the engine codes for that again.
