Do I need to change the transaxle fluid in my 2005 Malibu Classic at 50,000 miles?

Question:
I know according to most car manuals that typical everyday driving would be considered "Severe" with short trips and etc. but do i need to change the transaxle fluid at 50,000 miles? And if so, can anyone point me in the direction of how to find out how to do it myself?

no a 2005 malibu is a 100k mile tranny fluid. Also It would need to be done at a dealer or a good mechanic with the most up to date training. I am pretty sure depending on which engine you have that there is no trannsmision fluid dipstick on your car. So it isnt as easy as it used to be. Pull the pan down replace the screen and then refill and check on dipstick until full. Well if memory serves me correctly like I said I dont think you have a dipstick on the malibu so not an easy option to do. look again in the manual and I bet you will see 100k miles for the change interval.

It will be changed with your tranny fluid, which I have done every 30,000 miles at the most.

Yes, you should have it replaced. When the fluid is replaced, have the trans filter replaced at the same time.

i own a repair shop, and it probably does need changed at this time,,your best bet is to go get your self a Haynes repair manual on this car,,it will help you with this job ,and a lot more on that car,,i could tell you ,,but if you read it from a book, and you own the book ,you,ll have all the details i cant give you ,,plus some good illustrations also,,i use those repair manuals all the time in my shop,,the information in them is accurate, that's why i depend on them a lot,,good luck i hope this helps,
