ok all I have a 79 trans am with a chevy 350, im about to try to start it but i need to know how to wire it up to start it. the haynes manual has nothing in it that helps me. can somebody tell me where to start and where the wires start at thanks

Did you pay attention when you pulled the Pontiac engine out? It was wired pretty much the same as what you are installing. The Haynes manual has everything you need, just need to follow the wiring diagram. I guess the basics would be Battery positive to starter, Battery negative to engine block, Ignition switch to starter S terminal (larger gage wire, I think it's purple) 12 volts to distributor BAT terminal ( this wire must have full 12 volts with key in the on and start position) plug in the alternator and fire it up. There's a lot more going on under the hood than that but if those connections are made properly it should make some noise. Good luck.
