Take it to the shop. It is still covered under manufacturer warranty so you won't have to pay for it anyways.
I put a magnet on my car and it has now melted to the car. What is the best way to get this off?
More then likely it's just a service interval light. It's very likely that if you were not taken it to a dealer for the oil changes they did not reset it. I had the same problem with my Toyota. I took it to my mechanic, not the dealership. He said that at certain set milage the "needs maintenance" comes on to tell you do either change the oil or other maintenance. He set it by pushing the button where the mileage shows and holding it down for ten seconds or so. He said he automatically sets it after he does an oil change, which in the case of my 2005 Avalon is only every six months of 3,000 miles. My car does not even have 6,000 miles after over a year.Vehicle Questions (Battery Removal)?
So go to a local mechanic and ask for help!
I think some makes required the technicians to turn off the light manually.
How do you turn off the smoke alarm?
Could be a reminder (based on milage) for an oil change or air filter restricted. usually is some thing simple. a Check Engine Lamp is of greater concern. drop by a shop of choice and inquire. How do you check for a draw on a car. I know it is with a multi meter and neg cable.?
This is not a smart-a** answer, but refer to your owner's manual and identify the light. If it is a maintenance light, it can usually be re-set by a procedure discussed in the manual.
If, on the other hand it is a "Check Engine" warning lamp, it is an indication that the computer has identified a failure in a circuit or system that it monitors.
It could be as simple as a loose fuel cap or as complex as a failing sensor or a loose connection.
In any case, if it is the "Check Engine" light, don't ignore it. It could cost you a great sum of money.
