I have a 2000 Ford Explorer. She runs well but is knocking and pinging.?

Question:
I've heard everything from wrong sized spark plugs to dirty fuel pump. I've tried higher octane gas and fuel additive. This seemed to work at first. I question the spark plugs b/c I had a tune-up and the knocking didn't begin till 6 months later. She has about 75k miles. It seems worse when its warmer out and of course when the compressor is on. My mechanic suggested a fuel flush-which isn't expensive and may or may not work-but why throw out the cash for that if it isn't the solution. Can someone give me a good solution/answer? Only serious responses-if I want a smart *** answer I'll ask my kids.

have your mechanic check the est ( electronic spark timing ) sensor, and ohm all o2 sensors ,on newer vechicles 02 sensors must be replaced at tune up intervals i had a 94 exployer with a spark knock and found out ford no longer made the double platium plug that the label under the hood called for, i used autolite double platium and changed 02 sensors problem solved

Here is a list of potential causes.

Car overheating after driving a long distance?

Likely Causes

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor -
A MAF that is not reading air flow properly can cause an overly lean condition which can lead to a ping or spark knock problem.
Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor, If Equipped -
A BARO sensor that is out of calibration can cause an overly lean condition which can lead to a ping or spark knock problem. NOTE: Only models equipped with a BARO sensor.
Ignition Timing -
Ignition timing that is off for any reason can lead to a ping or spark knock problem.
Thermostat -
Engine temperature that is too high for any reason can cause a pinging problem. Verify the thermostat operation is correct.
Spark Plugs -
Verify the condition, gap, and application of the spark plugs are correct. Incorrect or damaged spark plugs can lead to a ping or spark knock problem.
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve, If Equipped -
An EGR valve or related component that is malfunctioning can lead to a ping or spark knock problem. NOTE: Only vehicles equipped with an EGR valve.
Overlooked Causes
Vacuum -
Any vacuum leaks that are causing the engine to run lean can lead to a ping or spark knock problem.
Fuel -
Fuel that is contaminated with excessive water or just poorly blended can lead to a ping or spark knock problem.

I have a 1990 acura integra. MT. Car wont start. Makes a shhh sound and jump starts dont work. Help?

ok, so hows the power?,do you have the power, you need?,you might change the gas filter(for all it cost).sounds to me like the mixture isnt right.if the gas filter is dirty,it will mess up the mixture, from gas and air.
