buy a small buffer not polisher ! and a can of same color - color back for the paint , only work small sections @ a time barring in mind that wind and heat will dry out the compound even faster. just watch what your doing. professional auto detailer 18 years.

get a good polish and buff out the spot, then use something like McGuires(spelling) clear coat restorer and buff that in, then wax it really good...it should bring the shine right back out in it. I would recommend Waxing the entire car or its going to look kind of funny if you do just the one spot.
