Question:
Let me clarify this I am a chick not a dude. I took my car to an auto shop to have the carburator repaired for emissions. When I got it back it reved up to high rpm's without even pressing the gas. I kept taking it back but it still reved high until one day on the way to take it back it just stalled out and smoked poured out from under the hood. I was told by another mechanic that the secondary had been broken causing it to rev up high, that gas got in the combustion chamber causing it to hydraulic and that my engine was now ruined. I am taking the auto shop to court for ruining my engine and his response was that he never heard of gas in the combustion chamber ruining an engine. I was wondering if anybody who knew anything about this to respond so that I can take their response to court with me. Thank you.

What is the firing order for a 1951 Cadillac ?
Gas in it's liquid form is a hyraulic fluid, fluids of any sort can cause hydrolock. oxygen in it's normal state is a "gas" if it were in a liquid state and poured into your engine it too can cause hydrolock. basically any liquid is not compressable and gases are compressable. The most common form of hydrolocking is from water or coolant. IE: driving thru a deep puddle.how do I syphon gas from my 2004 dodge durango?
i don't want to get involve in anything. My aim is to help people with the problem they have with thier vehicles.
the persons coming this site is because at some moment they want to know if they can do some of the repairs at home .
and most of the time that is true.

I gonna answer You (me being blind of what You doing) like everybody else.
Does not having a muffler burn more gas?
gas lock does not exist. that's not gonna happen.
'96 Merc. Sable possible transmission problems, what do u think?
but, an engine can be ruin by too high RPM.
when RPM goes high out of control and the engine is not designed to work at hi. then lot of damage will be done to the engine.
sort of (worse case scenario) a connecting rod pop out by the engine side wall.
the possible case might be back fire do to excessive gas.(insted hyd lock)
once again
and i am not talking on Your specific case because I don't know Your case. I am not beside your car.
Where do you put the blinker fluid in on a Dodge Neon?

my ski doo touring 380 fan cooled engine?
First off, I rather doubt anything you get from here would be admissable in court as evidence, since how could anyone "cross examine" the witness?Second, it is called Hydrostatic lock. Caused (usually) by over filling the crank case with iol. What happens is this:
With the oil level too high, as the pistons reach the bottom of the stroke, they hit the oil. Liquids are non-compressible (less than 1-5% by volume) As the piston hit the oil, it will attempt to compress it, since this is not possible, the pressure exerted by the piston (coupled with the continuing rotation of the engine) will cause:
1. one (or more) connecting rods (piston to crank) to snap - possibly damage the engine block (oil everywhere if an external hole)
2. The oil pan gasket (s) to fail (oil everywhere - might have been the source of the smoke)
3. the oil pan to rupture (see above)
4. the engine to just sputter and stall (maybe without causing any serious or "fatal" damage)
can some one pls tell me where to buy a new car battery in london?
Enough gasoline in the cylinders could cause hydraulic lock, causing damage to pistons, rods, crank, and cylinder head.how is it that 350 lbs can come out to be6.25 kilos/mm ?
Depending on the type of carburetor and fuel delivery system, a siphoning effect (which is what carburetors do when they're working) might have gone unchecked and poured a quantity of fuel into the cylinder.
i have a 93 cadillac dev. an the odo. is reading error i cant tell my mileage no more?
Hydraulic lock doesn't usually happen when the engine is running, but after it's been sitting, and some liquid (usually water from a broken cooling system) has leaked into the cylinder. The engine then "clanks" when the starter is turned, and never runs again.
would a bad m.a.p. senor on a 1992 buick regal 3.1 cause the the firing to stop?
In other words, yes, the second mechanic could very well be right.

How hard is it to clean a car's carburetor?
Yes.I have a 1995 Ford Contour GL and would like to get a new Battery?
any liquid can cause hydro lock in an internal combustion engine, but generally not while it is all ready running,( i mean you would have to garden hose it in) (Honda Prelude's have this problem when driven through high standing water) the carburetor just can not supply enough.
it sounds like your engine went the way of the ghost due to just plain over-revving because of the shops incompetence.
just to let you know hydro lock is usually caused by water
