98 chevy suburan tail light fuse blown?

While driving at night the tail light fuse blew.
Disconnected rear lights and trailer connector at rear by gas tank and front lights connector at firewall.
Still a short.
What else is on that curict?

That year of Chevy is apparently notorious for this electrical short problem. It is in the rear tailight grounding out somewhere. The wires and fixture become corroded over time and then boom, you got a problem.

should just be the tail lights. you may have a bare spot on the wire, but you can get a manual for that vehicle at an auto supply and check the wiring diagrams to be sure. also, check under the vehicle for a plug connector about half way back. if it comes loose, the lights won't work. you may also have a disconnected wire at the rear under the or inside of the truck area.
