Question:
Well it's not mine yet. It's for sale at a very good price and the owner said it needs a few things but it's been sitting for over a year. He said that it needs an alternator and clutch. And when he tries to jump start it, it doesn't even try to turn over. Apart from the starter, what could it be? And how much would I be looking at?

Looking for a TINT SHOP in PASADENA, CA or EL MONTE, CA?
if its been sitting, it probably needs a battery. and i dont know where you live, but check under the hood to make sure that no rodents have nested in there and have been chewing the wires. a good battery will cost around $50. put a battery in before you replace the alternator or starter to make sure thats all it needs. just clean all of the electrical connections between them. good luck.it may have bad gas is in it where it has been sitting for a year. Try draining the gas tank and putting clean fresh gas into it and mybe spray some carb cleaner into it. If this doesn't help I would walk away before putting alot of money into it
Changing a tire, but the lug nuts are on too tight.?
It could be a very dead battery. Sometimes a battery can be so dead it wont even jump start. What makes a turn signal flash fast?
check to see if the engine is froze up.if you hear the starter trying to click or engage, its a good possibility it is.if the engine turns over by hand, check your battery and cables.make sure the ground is grounded and try a good battery.sometimes an old battery wont even get enough charge to get the engine to turn over.or do like i did and put a v8 in it.i love my s10 .has a/c and overdrive trans with about 500 hp engine in it.fi its not even turning over from my experience it could be a few things. first it could be that the battery is so dead that it doesn't even take the charge to turn it over, or the starter is fried or the main thing is that the engine is siezed. put a socket and ratchet on the crank bolt and try turing it in the clockwise position. if it turns its probably one of the two things mentioned above if it doesn't turn, then YOU should turn around and walk away. hope this helps.
How to do a head gasket... help!!?
YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PUT ANOTHER BATTERY IN IT TO START IT . IF A BATTERY IS JUNK A JUMP IS NOT ENOUGH TO TURN A ENGINE OVER START FROM THERE GET IT RUNNING ,CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM YOU SHOULD ROUGHLY BE AROUND 14V IF NOT HAVE ALTERNATOR TESTED ,RUNNING YOU CAN CHECK CLUTCH AND ETC.I don't seem to have much luck with auto shops. Seems like they still use process of elimination .?
you should at least hear it turn over, so you know its not locked up. [new engine]Listen to the folks talking about a dead battery. They will act like a voltage sink, and suck up all the charge. If in doubt, disconnect one side of the battery, and jump it. Should fire right up.
What's the problem with my '97 Lumina?
And from experience, my 94 has gone through four clutches, and I am not hard on clutches. The S-10 is kind of famous for eating them.
