Question:
My Maxima's engine misfires when the engine is cold for the first 3-4 minutes upon accelaration. Mechanic couldn't find any problem with it even though he experienced it himself. Does anyone have similiar experience? It's a 2000 GXE. Started giving problems while I had garaged it for a month while out of town.
Answers:
The "Check Engine" light will illuminate for a serious misfire. It will tell you which cylinder it is.
Code P0300 is random misfire, P0301 is number 1 cylinder, P0302 is number two etc.
With that information, you should be able to detect if it has a bad wire, plug, damaged distributor cap, or moisture around a bad wire etc.
Is there oil in the spark plug well(s) causing the spark to short around the plug gap?
If the "Check Engine" light isn't on, then the misfire might be due to a failing fuel injector, in which case there will be a code of P0201 or P202 etc.
The onboard diagnostics really does help to locate a good many issues, and eliminate a good many others.
Do you get a high after fixing your own car?

i own a repair shop,and there's a possibility you have a lot of moisture in the gas tank that's causing this to happen ,you might want to try some dry gas additive to it to help remove the condensation from the tank and see i that helps it other wise it could be anything on it causing this,i just got done repairing one that set for 3 months,and a mouse had eat some wires in to on it and it had a bad miss in it,good luck,i hope this help,s.yukon 2004. transfer case dtc po523 encoder signal?
