i own a repair shop, and id just get this one fixed and drive it,,this would be a lot better than having to make payments, and besides yours is not that old of a car,,if you trade it,,you may wind up with another one that needs a lot of repair,,at least you know this car,,,and you can probably find a new model engine for it a lot cheaper, than that,,from a wrecked vehicle, and have a lot less money in it,,this is what id do,look for a good low mileage used one before i spent 1700 for a new one,,good luck i hope this help,s.what performance parts can ya get for diesel's?

Find a salvage yard that will install a good, low mileage used engine for you. That will save you several hundred dollars. Even if you buy the $1700 engine, you are still better off than buying a new car, financially. Fix this one, and make car payments into a savings account until you can buy a newer car with cash. First check the warranty it's six years old alot of warranties go as far as 10 years now. Also that sounds like alot of cash why don't you check out the local colleges they have student who are guided by the teachers on how to repair vehicles and you might get a better price. Remember people who want to be a mechanic usually know other mechanics or places where you can get an engine at a better price. Insurance companies also have places where they have certain places to keep engines and parts for vehicles. I would check around before saying yes to that amount of money. Good luck to you, I hate being without a vehicle but if you have to wait a week or more I'd try get a better price, and if you own the vehicle out right why go into more debt and a trade in if you go used could put you right back where you started. Also check to see if there is a problem with that type of engine go to Consumer Reports and find out if there were recalls on it that could help you save some cash.More Questions & Answers ...
