I have a '96 F-150 I want to remove the battery myself but am having trouble removing it. Any suggestions on removal? I unpluged the negative and positive hook-ups, but it will not even budge.

Ford F series trucks have a battery hold down that hold the battery in place on the bottom of the battery. just look down next to the battery and you should see it. un-screw the bolt and it the battery should come right out.There is a ''chock'' on the side of the battery pan that ''catches'' a lip on the bottom of the battery. Use a flashlight to look down the side of the battery and on the top of that chock you will see a bolt head. If you loosen that bolt the chock will release it's grip on the battery. It is not necessary to completely remove the bolt or the chock.

First, wear safety glasses.Remember a battery contains ACID, and that all the crud around the posts is acid and oxides and can cause burns also.
Always remove the Negative connection first, then the Positive.
There is a clamp at the bottom with a bolt , remove that and the battery will come out.
Before installing a new battery, be sure it is fully charged and clean the terminals on the new battery and the cars terminals, they sell a cheap "post cleaning' tool for this.
Clamp the battery in first, then attach the Positive terminal THEN the Negative.
