Need to know how to use polishing compound with an electric buffer and a foam head.?

Question:
Becoming an amatuer car detailing enthusiast and got a few supplies. I have a foam head for my buffer and got some turtle wax brand medium cut polishing compound. I've read a lot of articles but still don't know what to do. The directions were written as if you were to do it by hand but it says it works great with an electric buffer. I need to know how many rpm's to set my buffer at and whether I apply it by hand and buff it off or apply it with the buffer and buff it off or.....I just really need help.

medium cut is for light oxidation and light scratches. kind of like what you see when a car has been gone thru power car washes alot. the brushes get dirty and gritty, and beat up the shine alot. if you dunno what you are doing, then i suggest having someone show you. you can quite easily do alot of damage without knowing it. practice on a junk fender or something first.
