Probably a gasket. If oil consistently drips either from force or gravity, it tends to coat other moving parts and get splattered around. But if its localized and within a certain area, probably a gasket, or a breach. Shouldnt be a breach.. but have the gaskets checked. They don't cost too much. Research the cost of gasket sets, and then average repair costs online. THEN go to shops and get quotes. What is proper motor oil weight for my 2007 V6 Ford Fusion?
could be as simple as tightening down the valve covers or replacing gaskets or as serious as a rear seal (but seems too high-up on the engine for that). get it looked at.The most likely problem is the rocker cover gasket, they get dry and leak. Cheap and easy to do.

Can Ford Motorcraft Oil be used for any vehicle make?
The other may be a pcv valve hose leak. I believe the hose connects right behind the carburetor, so the hose nay be brittle, split or broken...also a minor repair, but the reason may be more. If your rings are going bad in the engine, the pcv valve may be overworked, causing puddles of oile. Pull the spark plugs, and look for crusty dark deposits on them. Even one cylinder is a bad sign...
Is it worth it to do some body work on rust patches on the body of my jeep?
Start with the simple and cheapest things first. Oil cap. Is it there, is it tight? Tappet gasket. Those are pretty cheap and on a 67 Mustang, it should be easy to get to. Clean out hte old gasket before inserting the new. Also, make sure the seat where the gasket is going clean. Some people put gasket sealer on it, some don't. I don't think it's needed if your gasket makes a good seal. Also, I've known some people to put gasket sealer over the nuts that hole the cover down.
