Question:
My 2001 Jetta GLS 1.8T has a turn dial which turns headlights on for night time driving (& the dashboard lights up). Since last week, when I turn the dial to ON, only the dashboard lights up, there are no headlights, no high beam (except the "temp" high beam when you flash someone). Daylight running lights are fine (when the dial is OFF) so I know the bulbs are good. What seems to be the problem?! I can't take the car out at night (no headlights whatsoever).

My camry is comepletly locked! Please HELP!!?
Bad switch. It shouldn't be much of a problem to disconnect it and replace. But, the general rule is if you buy an electrical switch you can't return it if it turns out that's not the problem. What should I use to take a cheap layer of paint off my car?
Check out the price of a new one and then call a salvage yard. You might luck out and find one locally at a salvage yard for half the price, if a new one is pretty pricey.
As you said you have temp high beams, it couldn't be the fuses. The connection could have become loose at the switch, it wouldn't hurt to check that before buying anything.
How can I instal a new style radio into an old 79 F-150?
Another remote possibility would be animals. I did have problems with rats eating the wires on my car when I visited my mother's house. But, I think it's the switch.
Have you checked your fuses??
