I need help?

Question:
my chevy 350 got up 220 degrees today and i immediatly pulled over and shut it off.. is my block in danger, could i have blown a head gasket?

Answers:

Car wont start in cold?

Having your engine get to 220 has done no damage at all.
There are numerous possible reasons as to why it did this.
Could be a water pump, hose leaking or maybe a belt broke. If it did this in a very short time like 10 minutes or so then it is most likely the thermostat.
Post another question asking for a diagnosis and give as many details as possible. You will probably have to go to a mechanic to get a diagnosis as it is real hard to be totally accurate without seeing a vehicle with this kind of problem. You could ask how to diagnose it also.
I don't want to sound arrogant here but from what I have seen Dodgeman is real good (he does have the most best answers) but I am accurate also.
FYI Some people know what the various problems could be but it is real hit and miss. Someone knew a little but to immediately suspect either your thermostat or radiator and nothing else makes me suspicious of his true knowledge.
The same goes for the other that didn't readily know that a 350 is a V8.

I left my lights on and had to get a jumpstart. Is my battery bad now?

Hmm.. Either thermostat or your radiator is going bad and not cooling, depends on how fast it went up there. Did you start the car and in less than a minute it shot up that high or did it slowly increase as you drove it around? If it was quick it's the thermostat, if it was slow you probably need a new radiator as that one's not dissipating heat properly anymore.

Either way there's probably nothing wrong with your engine.

Need help with 2000 chevrolet malibu?

Well, we will hope not. If you did, you will get continuous white smoke out the tail pipe. Did you solve the problem, add coolant or whatever to get it working okay again? Keep an eye on it, but it you don't have a power loss or white smoke, perhaps you were lucky this time. Also check it for a leak, the coolant had to go somewhere.

What is the best time to tank up cars?

220 will not hurt anything. Are you low on coolant? Is there an off white sludge on the inside of the radiator cap or on the oil dipstick? Those are signs of blown head gaskets. How long had you been driving? If is was under 4 miles it may be a thermostat. Is there coolant on the engine or has there been a puddle under the car? maybe a hose has a hole in it?

1996 Jeep Cherokee CODE P0117 and P0300??

COULD YOU HAVE BLOWN A HEAD GASKET, IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW FAST WHERE YOU DRIVING AND WHAT KIND OF OIL YOU HAVE AND HOW MUCH OIL DID YOU HAVE IN THE ENGINE, GOT TO CHECK THE COOLING SYSTEM FOR ANY LEAKS, ALSO VITAL PARTS YOU NEED TO CHECK IN YOUR COOLING ARE THERMOSTAT , RADIATOR , HOSES , WATER PUMP, SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE A V8 ENGINE SO, YOU GOT TO CHECK THE FAN CLUTH WHICH IF IS OUT IS MORE LIKELY TO DO THAT, OVER HEAT THE ENGINE AND THEN RUN LIKE NOTHING HAPPEN. IF YOU RUN YOU ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 3-5 MINUTES AFTER IT GOT HOT THERE COULD BE A 40% CHANCE THAT YOU CAUSE SOME DAMAGE TO YOUR ENGINE, BUT NOT A GASKET.
GOOD LUCK
