Which way should I place my hood scoop?

Question:
I have a 1986 F350 crewcab that I am working on.
I have the 6.9L diesel non-turbo in it, and when I get my hood scoop, Which way would provide the most benefit?

On my 1997 Pontiac Firebird 5.7 V8. Where are the O2 sensors located?


Forward into the air stream, or in a cowl induction position?

What oil weight do I need for my 351 cleveland motor?


I want the most air that I can get into the engine. I installed Edelbrock's high flow foam filter on the engine, and in time, I am going to stuff the filter housing with hospital dressing material.

Unless you seal the scoop to the air filter housing so that it can pressurize the intake it doesn't matter which way you put it on. Without this you are just cooling the engine compartment.

Greenvet is correct.But if you try to use forced air, you are going to suck every bug, snow flake and piece of dust that's within 3 feet into the engine compartment..
