Why am i not getting any spark?

Question:
i have a 79 bronco and it ran perfect until about a week ago when the head gasket blew. i replaced it and hooked everything back up. the timing is right and the plug wires are all in right. but there is no spark at all. i pulled the #1 plug and checked it but no spark while turning it over. the only electrical thing i unhooked was the plug going to the distributor, the plug wires and l ieft the coil hooked up and set it to the side. i hooked it all back up and nothing. what could be wrong? could my coil have gone out or what?

pull the coil wire from the distributor car and see if you're getting fire from the coil to the distributor. if you are, bad rotor or cap. if not, make sure the distributor is turning. check the coil for power and ground. check for a pulse at the coil when cranking the engine over. if all that is ok, bad coil or coil wire is open.

When you say - "no spark" - Are you getting crank? If so:
Yes. Main coils could be toast.
Check all fuses.
Check wiring. Could have a splice or broken cable.
Replace Distributor.
Follow voltage from battery to Distributor via Voltmeter.
Good Luck!

I have a 99 civic Ex with 95K, is it time to replace the timing belt?

Use a test light or electical tester and trace the power from the ignition to the coil and from the coil to the distributor. You may have not plugged a connector all the way in or have a break in a wire some where. You should be able to determine where the problem is in a few minutes this way. A good test light sells for aboy $20 at your auto parts store or you can make one with a 12v bulb and some wire and terminal ends.

i have an isuzu pickup and my heater switches the air only to the face and winshield vents but not the floor?

its possible since coils do randomly go out. is it a coil over system or a cap and plugs?

Engine cover?

you can use a multimeter to check from the positive side of the coil to the terminal out to the distributor also from pos. to neg. that will tell you the resistance in it even a beep from the meter will help, also check the rotor inside the distributors cap for any burns or electric arc this might need to be replaced along with spark plugs the electrode inside the ceramic could be broken due to expansion and shrinkin caused by heat&cold or it can be a fuse!
