Question:
I never had this problem but recently , when I step on the gas, instead of the car immediately moving , the car pauses or there is no immediate reaction. Instead, it pauses for a second or two and then it moves. To be a little more clear, it does move but very slowly and than there is the sudden jump. This only happens when the car is starting to move from stop. Why is it doing that ?

How much will a new transmission for my 2000 honda civic cost?
i own a repair shop and usually what causes this to happen is the gas filter is getting stopped up on it or its in need of a good tune up,also a weak fuel pump will cause it but usually an air filter or gas filter is the easiest and cheapest fix for this, but if its been a while since it was tuned up you might want to consider just having a minor tune up done on it,this usually gets rid of any hesitation one has in it,good luck with it hope this helps.Do you think I should buy the extended warranty on my BMW?

Actually, to me it sounds like a slipping transmission. Best to check the fluid.Check the TPS and check the cable from your gas pedal to your throttle and see if there is some slop. This causes a physiacla delay in the throttle openning. Check all of your sensors and vacuum tubes, fuel filter. It costs about $100 to scan your engine at a good shop. Oh, also, the O2 Sensor can make the difference too.
If the engine speeds up but the car doesn't move for a second the transmission's slipping. If the engine doesn't speed up right away, it could be a vacuum leak.
