Question:
I have a 99Ford F-150 (for some the problem may start there lol), it is a good truck, no problems. It seems like when it is cold outside the oil gage will stick when it shifts gears. When I say "stick" I mean on the gage itself it says there is oil the gage registers right under the H. When it shifts gears the oil gage will drop to the L and the light will come on. Sometimes the gage will jump right back up to the H but it seems to be sticking longer on the L. I am going to take it in and have it checked, but I really know nothing about cars and I don't want to get "took". Thanks to any one that can help.

How worried should I be about my ABS light?
Stephanie, You have one of two problems. Either your engine is not making good oil pressure or your guage is reading incorrectly. It is normal for oil pressure to fluctuate some. An engine will always have more pressure when cold then warm because the oil is thicker when cold. Also it is normal for the engine to pruduce more pressure at higher rpms because the pump is moving faster. A mechanic will have to check your oil pressure with a real oil pressure tester to verify weather its in the engine or not. If it shows the engine is making good oil pressure he will probably have to replace the oil pressure sensor(sending unit) That is an inexpensive repair. If the engine is not making good oil pressure you are essentially looking at a new oil pump or engine rebuild (big money)More Questions & Answers ...
