How do I fix the jerky opening of the sunroof on my 2003 Chevy Malibu?

Question:
The sunroof opens a little at a time. I push the switch and it will open an inch or so and stop. To open it fully, I have to do this repeatedly several times.

How do you stop your car from rusting more?

Any ideas on the problem and how to fix it?

It's been a great car (85,000 miles on it) and this is the first issue I've had with it.

Sounds like a contactor problem prolly in the switch, it happens alot in sun roofs. I would check that first, condensation causes the switch to no make a full connection. I just replaced the button on a 2002 for escape that was doing the same thing and it's fixed.
