Is this car good for racing?

Question:
I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 4 cylinder 2.0 L engine with a cold air intake, andit's lowered real close to the ground, 5 speed manual, would it be good for street racing? Give me some tips

Car won't start?

the eclipse 2.0's make a good street car, unfortunatly your not going to out run much of anything with that motor with out having it turbo'd up or nitrous'd. theres factory cars out there that are faster on motor alone then yours. you will need upgrades like turbo, exhaust systems, injectors, air intake systems, internal engine components and such. Also as pointed out it is illegall to street race. and if caught can cost you your ride and lic. all and all aside there are dangers that ppl dont think can happen to them. rest assured that no one is immuned to stupid drivers or accidents. if you feel the need to race take it to the track where its safe and legal. that's my opinion and expert advice as a drag racer and engine builder. take it for what it is. and consider is it worth risking ones life yours or someone elses.

Racing should be done on the track, and no other place. But as for a TRACK racing car, the Eclipse is a good start, but you wont win to much. Look for the GSX (awd version), or atleast the GS-T Turbo, but know that no matter what 4cyl car you get, you will need a BIG turbo and HP in a Bottle, or else you will not win much.

My advice is to look into something like a Mustang of Camaro, they will not break your bank like a Corvette, but will still give you some good performance.

But if you are "Anti-domestic" like most people I know, look for the 300ZX or 240SX (Nissan), the newer Suburu WRX/STI, or the Lancer EVO, as those would be your best bets for performance from a smaller engine.
