Glass packs and exhaust tips?

Question:
my truck has dual exhaust out the back with glass packs straight out the back that are fully broke in, with no tips. my buddys say I should get some tips for it and make it sound better, I think it sounds good without em, I mean do exhaust tips do more than just show off your pipes?
