doesnt look like its gonna be easy to remove the egr.it is located on a tube right behind the alternator on the passenger front side of the engine and the DPFE is located right next to it.the dealership replaced the DPFE 6 months ago when i bought the truck.i wonder what a egr would cost.thaks for your help

Are you sure you want to replace the EGR valve? I just checked the price. It lists for $206.84 MSRP, but you can order it from FordParts.com for $114.02US. At that price, I would want to 100% certain that replacing it will fix the problem. To test it, simply remove the vacuum hose to it, while the engine is running at idle. Connect a vacuum pump to it, and supply 20 Hg of vacuum. If the engine starts to idle roughly, than you know the EGR valve is working. I would simply remove it, and clean out all the passages very carefully first, before you spend that money needlessly. Hope this helps.
