try a household product called Lime Away. It can be pretty caustic so limit the exposure just to the glass and not painted or chromed surfaces.Check out website....

Here is the secret..... use Vinegar, mix it in you bottle of glass plus or windex. I lived in Germany for 4 years. They have hard water, so everytime I washed my car I had to use vinegar to get the spots off, it works like a champ and costs what?? $1 for a bottle.... :)ooo steel wool will take them off, any hardware store carries them.
Use vinegar then clean with window cleaner then use Rain-X.
