This is the caliper lady again no im not blonde! Where can I buy them. Not paint to paint them. Ta?
It depends on the age of the car! Some of the newer mercs have an electrical steering lock that only comes off when a transponder is read by the reciever ring around the outside of the ignition barrel, if you have dropped your keys at any time the little chip may have been lost, check to see if there is a small hole where the metal part of the key goes into the plastic part of the key and if so is there anything in it, if not this is your problem. If it is an older car then it is a mechanical fault usually caused by excessive wear to the key or barrel, if the key works fine in the door as you say without it being stiff to operate in any way then replace the ignition barrel but it is best to get a new one and not second hand as the new one comes with at least two new keys and will have no wear!!
Hope this helps!
