You seem to be the garage door guy on here...
So: Just locked the only remote control transmitter in the car, in the garage. Problem is that there is no other way into the garage. No windows, doors. The exterior handle with lock is not connected in any way to the automatic apparatus.
Tried to trip the sensor with a bent hanger under the door, to no avail. Any other ideas? Universal remotes? What damage will attempting to jack the door up do?

Me thinks you have a serious problem. The photo sensor across the door will not cause the door to open - it will stop the door coming down only."n" reg merc sprinter at idle oil light flickers but ok when driving?
If you know the operator manufacturer and you wrote down the frequencies - house codes - etc. you might be able to purchase another remote. Otherwise if the only opening is the garage door itself you are gonna have to force something.

No matter what you do its gonna hurt. All else failing and no better answers you might try cutting a hole in the middle of the second top panel - make the hole about 4 inches square, then reach in with a pole - broom handle - etc with a hook on the end and grab on to the manual door release pull handle. This will release the linkage between the door and the door drive and allow you to open it up. Then patch the hole with an appropriate piece of metal when you can drive to Home Depot to buy some.

universal remotes can be purchased at wal mart for about 20 dollars the come with programming instructions. You will have to know you opener brand name and code of the opener to program it. Good luck.
