Question:
hey guys,
I'm gonna install a carbon fiber dash kit in my Hummer H3.I've never done anything like this before. Any tips to simplify my task? Also, I've heard it's best to heat the parts before you install, although I was told it wasn't really necessary. And should I wipe everything down with alchohol? Also, how sticky is this dash kit, I mean,it won't start to de-glue a week down later 'cuz I turned the heat on in the car will it? I'm nervous, I'm afraid to screw up!HELP!
Answers:
Does anyone know what the prob. is with my car?
well if you can afford a h3 then you can afford to have it perfessonaly installed so just do that its alot easerRotate the engine so that No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. What does TDC mean?
it is pretty straight forward. there should be instructions but basically figure out where the pieces go, Clean the area with week soapy water (alcohol could damage the dash) allow to dry and peel off the backing and stick. (the pieces should be flexible enough and heating could damage the piece) press around it firmly to make sure it is stuck on good and move on to the next piece until done. I have the Cf dash kit on my sonoma and it looks hot.why doesn't my vitara jeep go ? engine starts?
alcohol will work just fine, its the main ingredient in windex and most other cleaners. the last thing you want on your dash is a soap residue. Just make sure you clean it good to get out any armor all. As far as heating up, as long as it is not 50 degrees in your garage you should be fine. Just get the plastic up to 70 or more and it will be easier to work with.More Questions & Answers ...
