Question:
The check engine light came on last week as the alternator appeared to be dying. After replacing the alternator, the light has returned. Auto zone ran a diagnostic on it and the code mentioned something about manifold pressure, but, the car is running great.
They cleared the light yesterday, and it has returned today. The electrical system is acting as it did with the old alternator- with headlights on , radio is lower. Turn headlights off, radio has more volume. Yes, its a standard radio. They mentioned something yesterday about the Mapping sensor. Any Ideas?

If your battery is 4 or more years old, I would replace it and make sure the cable connections are clean and tight. A fully charged battery should measure 12.6 Volts DC or more after the engine has been shut down for an hour to allow the surface charge to bleed off. The charging voltage across the battery at idle would typically be 14.2 or so Volts at or slightly above idle. You can easily measure these voltages yourself, safely, with a $20 Volt Ohm Meter purchased from Sears or an auto store etc.
You probably have a short to ground somewhere. Check your fusible link.
How do I get my lock nuts off my wheels?
It sounds like your map sensor is bad or manifold absolute pressure sensor since they mentioned manifold pressure. It is located on the intake manifold or on the throttle body. It is easy to replace and shouldn't cost too much. HOPE THIS HELPS!!More Questions & Answers ...
