Wildshield whipers stuck?

Question:
My whipers have always been fairly slow since I bought the car about a month ago. I kind of ignored this and then in the snow storm (the last one) they got stuck upward on my windshield but strugled and got a few cm's back and fourth and thats it. They sometimes will randomly stop since and the setting speed really has no difference when I change ths setting... they are all extremely slow and labouring. Advice or does anyone know the potential problem before I get it checked out?

You have a problem in one or two of three points. The wiper motor could be bad ( unlikely ), the wiper transmission arms could be bent, loose ( possible ) or the point where your wiper arms connect to the posts coming through the cowl are bad ( probable )- the wiper arm is made of softer metal, there are teeth that wear off so that if there is a major destructive failure the teeth break off. Take one of you arm assemblies off. There is a cap usually at the post that will pop to one side and allow a wrench in to loosen the nut from the post. Often people will try to use their wipers when they are frozen in place and this causes wear and tear on the teeth. Eventually the arm(s) just flip flop around. A quick check is to gently grasp the end of one of your wiper arms and try to move it when your wipers are turned off. If it will move, the teeth are broken and worn. It depends on the vehicle, but I had a nephew that had to replace the arms on a late model Chrysler Van and they ran $52.00/each from the dealer.

1998 ford taurus driver door wont open?

Not knowing the year of the car, or what kind of car, we are all guessing. Could be the motor or corrosion at the drive coupling to the two arms, just for starters.

How many gallons of paint should i buy to paint a dodge neon?

your best bet is to change the wiper motor.I've been working on cars for 15 years now and the most common thing with wiper blades not working is the motor burning out from the excessive force from packed snow on top of the blades...people insist on using the wiper blades instead of cleaning off the windshield first and it burns out the motor.
