Ok i asked a question about what kind of tranny i had i guess i wasnt verry specific?

the bell housing does not unbolt i should have told everyone i know it aint and e40d or a c4 i am still stumped thow it has the square pan and fits directly to my 302 is it a c6 it does not have the electronics to be an AOD either i hope some one can help

An AOD does NOT have electronics, nor even a lock up torque converter, believe it or not. A C6 does NOT have a square shaped pan either. It would help if you were able to provide the year, and model of Ford you are referring to. For your information the AOD was introduced in 1980 on many of Ford's mid to full size vehicles. Also, the AOD is very easily identified by pulling out the torque converter. If you see TWO input shafts (a hollow and solid one), look no further, it IS an AOD. It would help if you could provide the ID# (a number similar to FOAP-7000-EA). Hope this helps.

Edit: A C5 and C4 have identical square shaped transmission pans. However, the C5 was only mated to six cylinder engines in cars and light trucks of the eighties vintage.

they made a c5 tranny and a c6 the c6 has a long tail shaft usually and both the c5 and the c6 had the square pan on them,but the c5 was just an updated version of a c4,and had no electronics on it either,good luck with it.,,one thing about the c5 it was only built for a few years,and was hated by everyone who owned one of them,this was one of fords mistakes was the c5.,,ps i could be wrong about the pan shape on a c6 i havent seen one in a while,but i have several c4,s around the shop.
