Question:

Trouble starting car. Turn ignition and it labours and dies. Do this a couple of times and then it finally kicks in and starts. Happens all times of day not just in am?
Could it be the battery coming to end of its life??
Answers:
how do u know if you need a new positive battery cable?
Assuming it runs ok when you do get it running it is unlikely to be fuel or ignition. As you have not provided much info, it is difficult to diagnose, but it could be your battery, their demise is often difficult to detect these days because modern cars tend to start more easily.Or your starter motor is on its last legs.
Or maybe one of the sensors has failed such that the management system is not recognising a cool or cold engine and therefore is not compensating adequately to give you perfect starting conditions.

Wouldn't be the battery or you would have flattened it by now!Why do some cars display your speed in KPH/MPH while some display it in RPM?
Is the car a diesel? if so it might just be because it is cold - turn the ignition on, but don't try to start it, count to 5 and then turn the key fully - that will give the plugs time to warm and it should work.
What is the most common cause(s) for a coolant leak?
if not sounds most likely like the fuel pump to me, but could be any number of things - you need to take it to a professional.
You could have a fuel blockage,
If it was the Battery it would not "finally kick in" as you put it. If the battery was bad it would not ever "kick in", it would simply get worse and worse. The cheapest thing that you can do right now is to check to make sure that your battery connection are good tight. If they are good and tight, I would suggest changing the starter. My first intuition was that you Had a bad starter, but I would check the battery cables first.
Have you checked your spark plugs? When was the last time you cleaned or changed them?
Turn your headlights on while the engine is running,(better to do this in the dark) rev. the engine if the lights brighten slightly when you rev. engine, that means your battery is charging and it's not the alternator.
would my car be loud by by passing the catalyac converter?
If everything else is okay, it could be your battery, try swapping another battery from someone else's car to see if it's okay.
Hope that helps.
it sounds like the silinoid on the starter is going bad or has a bad connectionbut it is definatley in the starter.
