What fails in a MAF for my 89 LeSabre? Do the little temperature wires burn out, like a lightbulb?

What else goes in those things, or is it almost always the little wires? If so, then can a visual check of the wires determine if the thing is good or unserviceable for the most part?

Most of the time I think the MAF sensor wires will get dirty and stop working. You should be able to clean the wires off on the MAF carefully, with some type of electrical cleaner in a can. I have heard of this working before and it might save you the cost of buying a replacement MAF sensor.
