Question:
My steering wheel shakes when I brake at varying speeds. My rear tires are in fact worn out unevenly. I recently replaced all of my brake pads and they said the rotors were fine. Could it be wheel alignment? I have a 2005 altima.

Mercury Cougar brake light and abs light on at the same time when I press the brake or accelerate.?
AlignmentTo check the wheel alignment, select a level section of road with light traffic. At normal driving speeds the car should track straight ahead with your hands off the wheel. To compensate for crosswinds make the same test going in the opposite direction. If the car continues to pull to one side, the alignment is off.
Problem with my Cadillac Fleetwood. Starting problems/?
Aligning the wheels is not a serious proposition. But if the car isn't tracking true it could have a bent frame or damaged suspension. To quickly check whether the rear wheels are properly following the front wheels, stand directly behind the car and have the seller drive it away from you. If the car seems to be doing a crab imitation, scratch it off your list.

Disk brake rotors on front need to be shaved downIt's called "turning the rotors"
I had the same problem, and it turned out to be alignment.
My car has been been keyed. What can I do?
YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET NEW TIRES OR YOUR GOING TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND SLOW DOWN YOUR DRIVING IS NOT SAFEYou probably brake allot or hard often. My advice is to do what I have always done. replace the stock disk brakes with drilled and slotted disks.
if your wheel is shaking only when you brake it is your rotors. sorry to say but they are worped. just because visually they are fine they still have to check the runout on them to check for worpage
it is more likely warped rotors but you should also get the frontend checked for worn out components
My Honda civic steering wheel is not straight?
most likely the alignment is off. you'll want new tire on front and rear before getting it aligned, or at least good tread on all tires. it's dangerous to drive when tires are wore out.I would have your wheel alignment checked out, but it sound like its your power steering, have that checked to.
My serpentine/fan belt is squealing; how do i make it stop?
I have to say that after experiencing this myself it has to be that you need a wheel alignment. You should definitely take your car in. It should be an in and out deal, you'll have your car in a couple of hours.Do you think I should buy the extended warranty on my BMW?
It is most likely warped brake rotors no matter what the shop told you. Think about it,if it only does it when you brake then it is not a tire out of balance (that is usually only noticed at speeds above 50 or so) and alignment problems do not cause the wheels to shake when you are braking so I would say from my 30+ years of working on cars you have yourself warped brake rotors or drums. But it turns out to be rotors 98% of the time. Good luck. Most likely the front rotors have heat spots on them, or are warped...just looking at a rotor and saying they are fine doesn't mean they are...
Rear tires wearing unevenly, now THAT is an alignment problem. Have the rear "lateral link arms" looked at closely, they keep the rear tires tracking straight.

If it were a wheel alignment issue, the car should wobble at high speeds too.I recently bought a 98 F150 XLT 4x4 shortbed with only 81000 actual miles.?
The rotors may need to be turned/resurfaced because you may not have changed the brake pads in time and thus it damaged the rotors.
How recently did you change the pads? It could also be that the pads are worn out again, it depends on how often you use the brakes.

possible of 1) tire warpage.2) rim and tires not to specs...or 3) wheel alignmenti would have the rotors rechecked and also check the calliper mountings.Sounds like something is not running true there.
