Question about a 1998 Ford Explorer??

Question:
Sometimes when the vehicle is idling it will rev up really high, if i put the car in drive or reverse it will stop doing it, it doesn't do it all the time just sometimes, and only does it when in Park. What is it, does anyone know??

could be your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) they are known to stick / Very easy to replace, 2 bolts on top of intake near throttle.
