Question:
I have a 1998 dodge ram with a 5.9L V8 and an automatic transmission. Its a 4x4. Im about to hit 200,000 miles and I have been doing alot of towing lately and my overdrive finally shot and now I think 3rd is starting to go. I would like to get a rebuild with a shift kit for towing put in and I have no idea what price I should look for or what is competitive for a rebuild. Any ideas?

HELP with my 04' Alero!! plz!?
A good rebuilt will cost about $1,000 plus installation. You can search the WEB for re-builders or ask some of your local auto shops who they use for sources.Where is a vacum line schematic for a dodge dakota be found for free?
you have a dodge with 200,000 miles on it? did you call the newspapers? get a hold o fthe Guinness Book of Records?? sorry, not a dodge fan.you can get transmissions pricing at any auto parts stores, nomally they will require a core charge (your old transmission). adding a shift kit will reduce shift slippage but cause for harsh shifting that in time will be really annoying, rattle fillings and cause your neck to hurt.if you really need this you will need to deal with a transmission specialist..the shift kit may or may not affect your new transmission warranty.
unless you are doing it yourself, you will have to pay labor as well.this information is normally standard as a shop rate... shops follow a labor book that outlines normal time for each specific repair,
figure average shop rates vary from 80-120 bucks an hour.good luck..
